Senior Hiroshima Official Meeting South Korean Atomic Bomb Survivors

Hiroshima’s Vice Governor Yokota Mika meets with the South Korean Hibakusha and their descendants to learn about their experiences by visiting memorials and hear their concerns on lack of recognition. With 10~20% of Hibakusha being Korean, they are being excluded from medical care and official recognition.

Hibakusha” is a Japanese term that refers to atomic bomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where various nationalities form these Hibakusha. With their scars from the bombing, many continuously advocate for peace and nuclear disarmament nowadays.
